Things to note when changing soil for Clivia: Can the old soil still be used? Do you want to trim the roots? Do I need to water after changing it?

1. Can old soil be used?

It prefers fertile, well-drained soil for growth, and it is best not to use old soil when changing the soil. Because the nutrients in the old soil may be insufficient, and there may be lumps or bacteria, since you are changing the soil, it is recommended to directly replace the new soil to avoid affecting the later growth. The new soil can be mixed with two parts of leaf mold and gravel, one part of forest soil and three parts of humus, and finally a small amount of organic fertilizer solution as base fertilizer, which can meet its needs.

2. Do you need to repair the roots?

When changing the soil, water it thoroughly about a week in advance and be careful to remove it from the pot to avoid damaging the roots. After removing the plant from the pot, sprinkle the soil around the roots to expose them. Then use sterilized scissors to trim off the dead roots and fibrous roots on the old roots, because these old roots will not only not continue to grow, but also easily rot and infect other root systems, so they must be cut off.

3. Do you need to water?

After changing the soil, be sure to water it, and water it thoroughly to make the soil completely moist and allow its roots to fit completely into the soil. This will be more conducive to its growth and adaptation to the new environment. In addition, it is a light-loving plant and should be kept in a well-lit place, receiving six or seven hours of diffuse light every day.
