Osmanthus fragrans seeds germination method

Osmanthus fragrans seeds germination method

Before germinating osmanthus, you must select the seeds carefully, choose plump and fresh seeds, and remove the shriveled, worm-infested, and moldy seeds. Then wash the selected seeds, soak them in 1% bleaching powder for disinfection, take them out after 15-20 minutes and wash them again with clean water, then place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry, and then germinate them after drying.

Osmanthus germination method

First of all, we can place the osmanthus seeds in a lower temperature, such as cold water at a suitable temperature. This can stimulate the activity of the osmanthus seeds, reduce the substances that inhibit germination in the seeds, and allow it to end dormancy early. This can greatly increase the germination rate of the seeds and allow it to grow faster.

Osmanthus seedling cultivation

Step 1: Prepare the soil

Mix humus soil, garden soil and wood husks evenly in a ratio of 1:1:2. Because osmanthus likes loose, fertile, well-drained and breathable slightly acidic soil, this formula is beneficial to increase soil nutrients. After preparation, you can sow.

Step 2: Watering

If it is in spring and autumn, the sweet-scented osmanthus tree needs to be watered every 2-3 days, and the amount of water each time should not be too much to avoid water accumulation and root rot. If it is in summer, it needs to be watered once a day to ensure that the soil is moist.

Step 3: Fertilization

Osmanthus trees need sufficient nutrients during the seedling stage. At this time, you can use diluted liquid fertilizer and spray it once every 18-20 days. Before winter, you can appropriately increase the use of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to help osmanthus survive the winter well.
