Planting methods and precautions for wintersweet

Planting methods and precautions for wintersweet

1. Prepare the soil

Before planting wintersweet, you should prepare suitable potting soil. For home cultivation, you can use clay pots or purple clay pots. The soil requirements must be fertile and breathable. Avoid using cultivation soil with high viscosity, as seeds will find it difficult to germinate in such soil.

2. Choose seeds

If you want the seedlings to grow better after planting, you must choose high-quality, full seeds. If you collect seeds yourself, make sure to use those that are in good growth condition and are plump, otherwise they may not germinate after planting. The time for collection and planting is around July-August, and it is stored dry until planting in the spring of the following year.

3. Germination

Germination before sowing can increase the germination rate. Use warm water at about 60° and soak the seeds for about 12-24 hours. Then pick out and discard the seeds that float on the water surface, and use the seeds that sink to the bottom of the water.

4. Sowing

Sow the germinated seeds into the prepared potting soil, cover them with a layer of soil, and water them appropriately. If the climate in your area is very dry, cover it with a layer of film or straw, which can have a good moisturizing effect.

5. Notes

Planting should be done in spring as much as possible, avoiding hot summer and cold winter, as such climate will hinder seed germination.
