How to grow saffron in pots

How to grow saffron in pots

Potted saffron is generally planted in spring and autumn, specifically in March-April in spring and August-September in autumn. If it is in the southern region, the planting time will be even longer.

How to grow saffron in pots

1. Selection of potting soil

When planting saffron in pots, you must choose a pot with the right size and diameter. The pot must be breathable and the soil should be prepared with river sand, humus, base fertilizer, etc. The pH value of the soil should be between 6-8.

2. Planting process

Sow the germinated saffron seeds into the prepared potting soil, provide them with suitable temperature, water, and light, and wait for the seeds to germinate.

Saffron potted planting method

Potted saffron is generally propagated by sowing. After the seeds are sown, it is recommended to place the flowerpot in a well-ventilated and well-lit place. After about 20 days, the plant will begin to grow roots and can be managed normally.

Key points for caring for potted saffron

1. Potted saffron will germinate about 15-20 days after planting. You can water it once before germination to increase the humidity of the soil. Be careful not to use ice water when the climate is low. The water temperature should be equivalent to room temperature.

2. Before planting potted saffron, appropriate base fertilizer should be added to the potting soil, such as cake fertilizer, stable manure, burnt soil, wood ash, etc.
