Garlic pot planting method

Garlic pot planting method

The best time to plant potted garlic is in autumn and winter every year, because it is relatively cold-resistant. It is just right to plant it in late autumn and early winter, and then you can pick it and eat it in spring. You can eat the leaves or the garlic stems.

How to grow garlic in pots

1. Seed selection:

When planting garlic, first select fuller garlic cloves as good seeds for potted garlic. However, it should be noted that when peeling the garlic cloves, the outermost layer of garlic skin should be peeled off, leaving only the transparent film inside.

2. Planting pot soil:

Garlic does not have high requirements for potting soil. Just find a container of suitable size, prepare some soil, and then sow the processed garlic cloves. You can also buy some nutrient soil, which is very helpful for the healthy growth of garlic.

3. Planting method:

When planting garlic in a potted plant, make sure the pointed end is facing upwards and the garlic cloves are about 5 cm apart. After all the garlic cloves are planted, cover them with a thin layer of soil and pour enough water to ensure the soil is moist.

Garlic pot planting method

1. Lighting method: Garlic needs plenty of sunlight during its growth process. You can place the garlic on a south-facing balcony. You can choose potted plants or valley plants, or you can directly plant garlic petals in clean water.

2. Process the seeds: Remove the garlic disc and skin before planting, and then plant them in waterlogged soil with a depth of 3~4cm and a spacing of 5~10cm to ensure that the soil is moist. After about a week, the garlic can germinate.

Key points for caring for potted garlic

When caring for potted garlic, you can apply some nitrogen fertilizer in an appropriate amount to promote the growth of garlic. However, you cannot fertilize newly planted garlic. You need to wait until the garlic seedlings grow out of the soil before fertilizing. Otherwise, the roots will be burned due to excessive nutrition. In addition, the amount of watering should be reduced during fertilization. Excessive watering will easily cause root rot in the garlic pot.
