Cultivation methods and precautions of spirea

Spiraea is a flower that is both easy to grow and beautiful. There are many varieties of Spiraea, and it grows relatively fast. The flowers are generally white and the stamens are yellow. It has a high ornamental value and requires a lot of light.

How to grow Spiraea

1. Lighting

Spiraea is a light-loving plant. If there is insufficient sunlight, it will cause poor development of the plant and affect the flowering of Spiraea. When the light is strong in summer, shading measures are needed.

2. Temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for spirea is 20-25 degrees. It has a strong ability to withstand high temperatures. If the temperature drops below minus 25 degrees in winter, frost damage will occur, and in severe cases even death.

3. Watering

Spiraea is drought-resistant and likes to grow in a humid environment. If water accumulates for a long time, it will easily cause root rot, so just keep the soil moist at ordinary times.

4. Fertilization

Spiraea has a high demand for fertilizer. During the growing season, compound fertilizer can be applied 1-2 times every month. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be applied during the flowering period of Spiraea. Fertilization should be stopped in winter.

Precautions for the maintenance of spirea

When caring for spirea, you should pay attention to the fact that spirea is particularly resistant to pruning. Frequent pruning can effectively promote the growth of more branches, which is beneficial for spirea to grow into flower balls. It can also reduce the absorption of nutrients and increase the space for spirea to grow.
