How and when to plant water lilies

How and when to plant water lilies

Before planting water lilies, first mix wood ash, river sand, fish bones and other materials with high phosphorus and potassium content into the potting soil as base fertilizer, then bury the rhizomes in the soil so that the top buds of the rhizomes are level with the soil surface, then add clean water and place it in a place with sufficient light and ventilation.

Water lily planting conditions

Water lilies are suitable for growing in warm places. The ambient temperature of the water lilies should be controlled between 15-25 degrees. If there is insufficient light, moss will grow on the surface of the pot water, affecting the healthy growth of the water lilies. When the temperature is below 5 degrees in winter, pour out the water in the pot and move it indoors.

Water lily planting time

1. Water lilies can be planted all year round, but the best time to plant them is in spring and autumn, because this period is conducive to the growth of water lilies.

2. The different temperatures in different seasons in different places lead to certain differences in flowering time. In the southern region, water lilies are planted in March, while in the northern region, the planting time can be slightly later, in April.

High-yield planting method of water lily

1. The water level of the water lily should be 15 cm and should not exceed the center of the leaves of the seedlings. As the seedlings are transplanted and survive, the water level should gradually rise to 80 cm, which is conducive to the growth of the water lilies.

2. Since the leaves of water lilies are relatively large and require a lot of fertilizer, top dressing should be applied in time during the planting period according to the condition of the water lily seedlings.
