Cultivation methods and precautions of Mirabilis jalapa

Mirabilis jalapa is a very easy-to-grow plant. It has strong vitality and good adaptability. Even with rough management, it can still grow very vigorously. It is very suitable for novices to grow.

How to grow Mirabilis jalapa

1. Soil

Mirabilis jalapa has certain requirements for the soil. It likes loose, fertile, well-drained and breathable soil. You can choose garden soil and coarse sand, mix them evenly in a ratio of 5:5 as the culture soil, expose it to the sun for 2-3 days, and set it aside after sterilization.

2. Lighting

If you want the Mirabilis jalapa to thrive and bloom abundantly, you must provide an environment with plenty of sunlight. The more light it receives, the more vigorously it will grow, especially during the peak growth periods in spring and autumn, when it needs more sunlight.

3. Watering

Mirabilis jalapa likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. It can be watered every 3-4 days in spring, every 1-2 days in summer, and once a week in autumn. In winter, control the amount of water and do not water unless the soil is dry. It is not suitable to water in rainy weather and the rainy season.

4. Fertilization

Mirabilis jalapa likes fertilizer. Sufficient fertilizer can promote plant growth. Fertilize once every 15-20 days during the growing season. It is best to use dilute organic compound fertilizer water. Apply thin fertilizer frequently to avoid fertilizer damage. Water appropriately after fertilizing.

Mirabilis jalapa care precautions

Mirabilis jalapa is a herbaceous plant that prefers a warm growing environment. The temperature should be between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius during maintenance. It should not exceed 35 degrees Celsius in summer. Too hot an environment will cause the leaves to fall off. It is best to keep it at around 10 degrees Celsius in winter, so bring it indoors for maintenance early.

Although Mirabilis jalapa likes sunlight, it should be avoided from strong light, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow and the number of flowers will decrease. In addition, aphids are a common pest during the growth period of Mirabilis jalapa. We should spray Mirabilis jalapa with carbendazim more often, so as to prevent aphids effectively.
