When is the best time to transplant magnolia?

When is the best time to transplant magnolia?

Magnolia is a plant that is not tolerant to transplanting, so you must first choose a good time for its transplanting. The best time to transplant magnolia in spring is within 10 days before the plant sprouts in early spring or within 10 days before leaf expansion. The transplanting terrain must be high, because if transplanted in a low-lying area, the flower tree will easily rot and die.

Magnolia transplanting time

The time for transplanting magnolia can be chosen in spring from March to May, or in autumn from August to October. The temperature at these two times is relatively mild, which is very suitable for transplanting magnolia, and it is also very beneficial for the later growth and recovery of the flower trees. In addition, the plum rain season is also very suitable for transplanting. The air humidity at this time is high and the survival rate is higher, but care should be taken to avoid heavy rain or high temperature weather.

Magnolia transplanting method

First, find a place for the magnolia that is sheltered from the wind, has loose soil, faces the sun, has good drainage, and has good lighting as a transplant site. Then dig a hole with a depth of 50-90 cm for transplantation. Then insert the sapling into the transplant hole. After compacting the surface of the soil with your feet, water the magnolia again and wait for it to survive.

Management of Magnolia after transplanting

Magnolia is prone to anthracnose, leaf burn or chlorosis after transplanting. You can spray the tree with 500 times diluted 70% Anthracnose Fumei. It is necessary to spray about once every 10 days. 3-4 times in a row can effectively control the disease of the magnolia. If conditions permit, you can also apply more organic fertilizers to improve the resistance of the magnolia.
