What fertilizer do you need to grow chives at home? (What fertilizer do you use to grow chives?)

What fertilizer do you need to grow chives at home? (What fertilizer do you use to grow chives?)

1. The growth and development characteristics of leek determine the rules and characteristics of fertilizer requirements

(1) From the perspective of the growth period of leeks

During the seedling stage, the growth of the plant is small, so the amount of nutrients consumed is also relatively small.

In the year of planting, the root system is in the early stages of development and needs to absorb nutrients to resume and promote growth. However, the entire plant has not yet fully developed, and there are few tillers, so the amount of nutrients absorbed and utilized is still relatively small.

The second to fourth year of leek growth is the period when the leek plants have the strongest tillering ability and the most vigorous growth. It is also the period of growth with the highest yield, so the amount of nutrients needed for growth and development is also the most.

After the fifth year of growth, leeks have been harvested several times a year and have been harvested continuously for many years, so the fertility of the soil, especially the content of organic nutrients, will inevitably weaken the growth momentum of the leek plants due to excessive consumption.

Therefore, after the fifth year of the leek growth period, fertilization should be increased, especially organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility, enhance the growth potential of leek, and ensure a long-lasting leek yield .

(2) From the perspective of the annual growth stage of leek

Among the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter, spring, summer and autumn are the periods of most vigorous nutritional growth for leeks cultivated in the open field. Especially spring and autumn are the harvest seasons, so they are the stages with relatively large plant growth and nutrient demand.

(3) From the perspective of the demand for nutrient elements in leek yield

Experiments show that the amount of nutrients needed to produce 100 kilograms of leeks is about 500 grams to 600 grams of pure nitrogen, 180 grams to 240 grams of phosphorus, and 620 grams to 760 grams of potassium.

From this we can see that leeks require more nitrogen and potassium and less phosphorus for their growth and development.

2. Leek needs to be matched and applied according to its fertilizer requirements

Planting leeks requires scientific and reasonable arrangements for fertilization based on the perennial characteristics of leeks and the different nutrient requirements in each growth period and stage, in order to ensure the high quality and high yield of leeks and achieve long-term sustainable production of leeks.

1. Arrangement of seedling fertilizer

For leek seedling fields, 4,000 to 5,000 kg of fully decomposed high-quality farmyard manure can be applied per mu, mixed with 20 to 30 kg of superphosphate and the fertilizer can be thoroughly mixed and ploughed into the soil before sowing.

After the seedlings emerge and grow 2 to 3 true leaves, apply decomposed, diluted human manure and urine in combination with watering to promote the growth of the seedlings.

When the seedlings have 4 to 5 true leaves, apply thin human feces and urine again. After that, apply thin human feces and urine once every half a month to twenty days in combination with watering, and you can also sprinkle plant ash at the same time. This period is mainly to promote seedling growth and root promotion.

2. Application of basal fertilizer for planting

Before transplanting leek seedlings or dividing the plants, sufficient basal fertilizer should be applied in combination with plowing and harrowing. The application of basal fertilizer is very important for growing strong plants and enhancing their tillering ability.

Generally, 4,000 to 5,000 kg of fully decomposed high-quality farmyard manure is applied per mu, mixed with 40 to 50 kg of superphosphate and 20 to 30 kg of potassium sulfate, and about 400 kg of fully decomposed cake fertilizer. After ploughing and harrowing the ridge, transplanting and planting are carried out.

3. Arrangement of topdressing during the growth period

After transplanting, water should be applied in time to promote seedling growth, and top dressing can be applied only after the transplants have survived.

① Topdressing in the year of planting

When the leek plants grow new leaves, you can apply 600 kg to 1000 kg of fully decomposed dilute human manure and urine per mu along with water. You can also apply 7 kg to 8 kg of urea to promote root growth and seedling growth.

After autumn, you can irrigate the land with about 1,500 kilograms of fully decomposed thin human manure or about 12 kilograms of ammonium sulfate fertilizer every ten days to half a month.

② Apply top dressing in the second year after planting and thereafter.

In early spring, after the leek sprouts emerge from the soil, apply diluted human manure and urine in combination with watering, or apply 5 kg of ammonium sulfate per mu with water into the field.

After that, apply 1,200 kg of diluted human feces and urine per mu with water every 6 to 7 days until the harvest begins. After that, apply fertilizer once or twice every time you harvest the chives, and apply it in time after the harvest wound heals.

Do not apply fertilizer when the leek plants are sprouting. Wait until after flowering to apply fertilizer to promote tillering.

Each time you apply topdressing, you should alternate between organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer. You can use about 18 kg of ammonium sulfate or 9 kg of urea fertilizer per mu each time. Organic fertilizer can be applied with water at 1,200 kg of decomposed human feces and urine per mu each time. Plant ash can be sprinkled in time after each harvest.
