How to propagate vinca rosea cuttings and how to root it in water

1. Cutting method of Catharanthus roseus

1. Prepare the substrate: prepare fish tank bottom sand or coarse river sand, pour the bottom sand into a foam box, add clean water to rinse it repeatedly, and then pour in the diluted potassium permanganate solution (dilute it with water to light purple, as shown in the picture), with the water level covering the bottom sand by 1 cm.

2. Cut cuttings: Select healthy stems and leaves of Catharanthus roseus, cut several small sections as cuttings, each section should be 5-10cm long, remove the lowest leaves of the cuttings, and use them directly for cuttings without drying the wounds.

3. Start cuttings: insert the processed cuttings vertically into the bottom sand. Be careful not to insert them upside down or to the bottom. Leave space for rooting at the bottom of the cuttings. After inserting them, place them in scattered light. Don't worry about it anymore, and don't move them all the time.

4. Maintenance after cutting: After the cuttings are completed, place the foam box at a temperature of about 25℃. After the water in the foam box dries up, it will take about 2 weeks for the roots to take root. If the maintenance temperature is low, the rooting will be slower. Remember to replenish water after the water dries up.

5. Transplanting and planting: When the roots grow to 2 cm, pull the cuttings out of the bottom sand and transplant them into the potting soil. Water them thoroughly and place them in a well-ventilated place with diffused light. After the plants show obvious growth trends, gradually increase the light. Later, gradually replace them with larger pots as the plants grow.

2. How to hydroponically root Catharanthus roseus

It is very simple to root Catharanthus roseus in hydroponics. Just cut the branches of the plant into cuttings with a length of 5-10cm, insert the cuttings into water, and replace the water every 2 days until the Catharanthus roseus sprouts roots.
