What kind of soil is suitable for potted plants?①First, loose and breathable Leaf mold is loose and breathable, has sufficient nutrients and contains rich humus. The disadvantage is that if it is used alone, it will easily become hardened after a long time. If you water it too much or too frequently, it will easily cause the roots and buds of the plant to rot. If you water it too little, it will be difficult to water it thoroughly after the soil in the pot is dry. ②Secondly, the soil pH is appropriate Different household potted flowers and trees have different requirements for the pH value of the potting soil. When selecting the potting soil, they should be treated differently, especially for southern flowers that prefer slightly acidic soil, and the pH value should be around 5.5~6.5. ③Again, rich in nutrients The amount of soil contained in home potted flowers is limited by the pots. Except for succulents and some orchids which are more resistant to barrenness, most potted flowers and plants require the potting soil to be rich in nutrients and have sufficient fertility. How to prepare simple and practical culture soil(1) Mix leaf mold and sandy soil Leaf mold has a loose texture, is rich in organic matter, has good water and fertilizer retention properties, is slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.5~6.5, and is an excellent raw material for preparing nutrient soil for potted plants. Sandy loam refers to the surface soil of vegetable gardens, orchards or places where leguminous plants have been planted. It has a certain fertility and is a good material for preparing nutrient soil, but it is easy to become compacted and has poor permeability. Its pH value is generally 7.0~7.5 in the north and 5.5~6.5 in the south. In autumn, use 40% fermented and decomposed leaf mold and mix it with 40% sandy loam from the surface of the vegetable garden or orchard. Then add about 20% furnace ash and mix the mixture in the ratio of 4% leaf mold: 4% sandy loam: 2% furnace ash to make growing soil for potted plants. Keep it moist for 10 to 15 days and it will become a good potting soil for potted plants. This kind of potting soil is suitable for most flower potting soils. (2) Mixing of forest humus soil and sandy loam In autumn, go to the countryside or nearby forests, collect humus from under the trees, and mix it with the sandy loam on the surface of the vegetable garden or orchard. The ratio is 50% forest humus soil, 30% vegetable garden or orchard surface sand, and 20% fermented poultry manure or sheep dung balls. After piling for about 15 to 20 days, it can be used as cultivation soil. (3) Mix peat soil and plain sandy soil Peat soil is a soft deposit formed by the remains of plants in low-lying areas after long-term accumulation and decomposition under conditions of abundant water and little air. They have loose texture, low density, porosity of more than 85%, good air permeability, water permeability and water retention properties, and are good materials for preparing nutrient soil for potted plants. When preparing, use 40% peat soil, 40% plain sandy soil, and 20% horse manure or poultry manure. Mix them evenly and then pile them up. They should be kept moist and turned and fermented frequently. If there is no horse manure or poultry manure, you can mix it with rice washing water or soybean boiling water. After it is fully fermented and decomposed in the summer, it can be used to grow flowers and trees. |
