How to make Chinese cabbage mature quickly?

How to make Chinese cabbage mature quickly?

The cabbage is approaching the heart stage, which is the peak period for cabbage leaf weight gain. It is also an important period for determining the heart to become solid, and for improving yield and quality. Therefore, we must do the relevant work before the heart stage in advance.

When the cabbage is approaching the heart-forming stage, we need to do the following work to make the cabbage mature faster and actually increase the yield.

1. Watering at the right time

The period in which Chinese cabbage requires the most water is the early stage of heart formation. The soil should be kept moist and watered appropriately according to the situation.

2. Timely topdressing

This is the critical period for the formation of the cabbage heart. If there is a lack of fertilizer, it will affect the compactness of the cabbage heart. At this time, we should apply quick-acting fertilizers, mainly nitrogen fertilizers, and mix them into water for flushing. In the late stage of the heart, we should stop fertilizing to prevent the cabbage from growing too tall.

3. Foliar Fertilizer

When the cabbage is close to the heart stage, you can spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the leaves to promote leaf photosynthesis and prevent premature aging. At the same time, you should also spray calcium chloride solution to supplement calcium for the cabbage to prevent dry heart disease caused by calcium deficiency.

4. Pest and disease control

The main diseases and pests during the cabbage head period are viral diseases, downy mildew, soft rot, aphids, and cabbage loopers.

① Viral diseases

If cabbage is infected with a viral disease, it must be pulled out immediately, as the disease cannot be cured.

② Downy mildew

If this disease is found, you can spray it with Anke mancozeb wettable powder according to the dosage specified in the instructions.

③Soft rot

When soft rot is found, the diseased plants should be removed in time, taken out of the field and buried deeply. At the same time, the diseased field should be disinfected with quicklime to prevent infection, and other cabbages should be sprayed with a new phytocin solution to prevent infection.

④ Pests

The main insects are aphids and cabbage worms, which grow on the back or heart of cabbage. They can be sprayed with imidacloprid solution. When spraying the medicine, pay attention to evenly spray the front and back sides of the leaves, the top, and the heart of the cabbage for prevention and control.

In short, the early stage of cabbage heart formation is the period when the cabbage roots and leaves grow most vigorously, and it is also a critical period for the occurrence of diseases and insect pests. We must strengthen the management of water and fertilizer to make the roots grow rapidly and prevent the occurrence of diseases.

Kind tips

Another reason that affects the heartiness of Chinese cabbage is the wrong choice of variety. In autumn, Chinese cabbage prefers cool weather, while in summer, Chinese cabbage is heat-resistant. Therefore, it is very necessary to find the right season.

If the cabbage varieties that are more tolerant to cool temperatures in autumn are planted in summer, they will not grow fast and will not wrap well. In addition, use straw ropes to tie the outer leaves of the cabbage to force wrapping, which should be done two weeks before the cabbage is harvested.
