How to keep roses alive (how to grow roses easily and well)

Roses are relatively easy to grow, and it is not difficult to keep them alive. Rose maintenance is nothing more than light, soil, watering, fertilization, pruning and other aspects.

Light is the key to growing roses

Rose is a light-loving flower and has strict requirements on light.

The most important thing in caring for roses is the lighting conditions. It is necessary to ensure that there are at least 4 hours of direct sunlight every day. It is not recommended to grow roses indoors or in places where the sun cannot reach.

The soil for potted roses requires looseness and air permeability

Any kind of ground-planted rose can grow very well, but ground-planted roses still have some requirements for the soil. No matter what soil you use, at least you must ensure that it has good water permeability and water permeability.

Be careful when using it in clay soils as it can easily cause the roots to become suffocated.

Adequate water and fertilizer, pay attention to fertilizer damage

There is nothing special about watering. When growing roses on the balcony, all you need to do is avoid watering during the noon period in summer, and try to do it in the morning and evening. Watering when it is too hot can easily damage the capillary roots.

In winter, watering should be done at noon when the weather is sunny. Watering at other times will cause the roots to be frostbitten because the water has no time to evaporate and the temperature is low. The general principle of watering is: do not water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do.

Many experts in growing roses say that roses need lots of water and fertilizer. That is for the experts. As a novice flower lover, it is better to apply thin fertilizer frequently and slowly accumulate experience.

Because we simply cannot control the amount, we don't know when to apply fertilizer, how much fertilizer to apply, and what to do after fertilizing. If we are not careful, it will cause the phenomenon of excessive fertilizer burning the seedlings.

Therefore, don’t try to learn to do things that require high skills. I suggest that when you first start growing roses, you should use some slow-release fertilizers, such as Huaduoduo and other special fertilizers.

In order to avoid fertilizer damage, it is better to apply small amounts of fertilizer frequently to roses rather than apply too much fertilizer at one time.

Prune frequently to ensure ventilation and light transmission

Roses grow very fast and bloom on new branches, so regular pruning is very important.

Pruning can be done throughout the entire growth period. For some weak, dense branches that affect ventilation, do not be soft-hearted and cut them when necessary. If you cut them, new branches will grow. If you don't cut them, they won't grow and nutrients will be wasted.

Generally, after the rose flowers fade, the rose branches are pruned to promote the growth of new branches, and the cut branches are used for cuttings.

Choose the right flower pot to grow better

When growing roses, I have used flower pots made of almost all materials. To be honest, I finally chose to use gallon pots.

The ceramic pots with only one small hole at the bottom of the flower pot look good, but they are not really suitable for growing roses. Gallon pots have many holes at the bottom and are very breathable, making them very suitable for growing roses. Other pots like Qingshan pots and Alice pots are also acceptable.
