Differences in appearance:

Ji Yu Lu: The top of Ji Yu Lu will become very transparent in a good growing environment, and the color will be green with a hint of red, which is very attractive. After being exposed to strong sunlight, the top turns brown.

Palace Lantern Jade: The top of the Palace Lantern Jade is covered with fine hairs, giving it a hazy feeling. It is not as crystal clear as the Jade Plant, and its color is a darker green. Its top is also covered with lines, but the lines are thicker and more solid than those of Ji Yu Lu. When exposed to the sun, the top will turn black or gray.

Other differences:

Their growing environments are similar, but the Jade Plant will easily get sunburned if it stays in strong sunlight for too long, while the Lantern Jade Plant can tolerate it for a while.

The growth rate of the royal lantern jade is relatively fast, which is probably closely related to the fact that the royal lantern jade tends to grow too tall. The growth rate of the Ji Yu Lu is slower, but it is particularly easy to grow in groups.

The cultivation of the Jade Plant requires care and attention, but the Lantern Jade Plant is particularly easy to raise because of its fast growth rate, which is why it occupies such a large market as a common jade plant variety.
