Can roses be grown hydroponically?Roses can be propagated hydroponically. There are many varieties of roses, but no matter what variety, as long as it is a rose, it can be propagated hydroponically. Roses are very tenacious and can basically take root as long as they see soil and water. They are easier to propagate than Chinese roses. I also planted some roses in water some time ago, but they were not as easy to root as those planted in soil, and the speed was a little slower. I made some comparisons. However, another feature of rose hydroponics is that it is easy to operate. Just cut a rose branch and put it directly in the water. It will take root after a period of time. This is very simple for novices and is much more convenient than soil planting. Roses and Chinese roses belong to the Rosaceae family and can be propagated by cuttings. Cuttings are divided into soil cuttings and water cuttings. Based on my experience, I feel that water culture is not as good as soil cuttings. Why do I say that? Because the rose is grown hydroponically only for the purpose of taking root, it cannot be kept in water all the time like lucky bamboo. After all, the nutrients in the water are limited. Even if liquid fertilizer is added, it will not grow as well as when planted in the soil. After the rose cuttings survive, they cannot be kept in water all the time. They must be transplanted out. If it is in summer, the survival rate of transplanting is very low. If it is soil cuttings, we can transplant it together with the soil ball, so the survival rate will be greatly improved. Therefore, I rarely use hydroponics to cultivate roses and roses, and basically use soil cuttings. What should I pay attention to when hydroponically growing roses?Hydroponic roses do not require liquid fertilizer, just ordinary water will do. If it is tap water, it is best to let it sit for a few days before use. When growing hydroponically, cut the bottom of the rose diagonally. A smooth cut is conducive to the formation of callus tissue. If there are black stems or necrotic parts at the bottom, be sure to cut them off to expose the fresh part. Then just put it in the water. You can modify it with used foam and insert the rose stem into it so it won't fall over easily. After cutting, do not expose it to the sun. Put it in a cool place first, and let it receive scattered light after roots or leaves emerge . It is best not to expose it to the sun at this time. Make sure the water in the pot covers the roots and does not dry out. If it is a relatively long rose stem, such as the rose stem we use to graft moon trees, it is better to root it in the soil. After all, it is not suitable to put such a long pole in water. The bottom cannot always touch the bottom of the pot, and rooting will be hindered. Therefore, it is best to insert it into the soil. If it is just a small pole less than 20 cm, it can be propagated by hydroponics. In general, hydroponics is not as good as soil cuttings. I personally recommend that you use soil cuttings to root, which is faster and better . |
