How to make potted lemons bloom and bear fruit

It is a very common phenomenon that lemons only bloom but do not bear fruit. Some flower lovers' potted lemons bloom every year but never bear a single fruit.

So, how can you make a flowering potted lemon bear fruit? Try this treatment, and you will be able to bear small lemons in 30 days, and after the fruit is set, there will be a lot of fruit.

① Picking flowers

If your lemon only blooms but does not bear fruit for a long time, the flowers will fall off soon after they open. When the weather is fine, pick off all the buds that have bloomed or are about to bloom, leaving only a few small buds.

If the existing flower buds are the type that have already opened or are about to open, it is okay to pick them all.

Because the quality of these flower buds is not high, if you leave them, they will wither after opening, wasting nutrients. It is better to pick them directly and let high-quality flower buds grow, which can greatly increase the fruiting rate.

② Fertilization

After picking off the flower buds that are about to bloom or have already bloomed from the potted lemon, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as Huaduoduo No. 2 or potassium dihydrogen phosphate, once every 7 days. Control the concentration at 800~1000 times, and spray continuously 2~3 times.

It is best to apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in the evening when the weather is fine, spray the leaves on both the front and back of the leaves. If there is well-rotted organic fertilizer, you can also use a thin organic fertilizer liquid to irrigate the roots when spraying phosphorus and potassium fertilizers on the leaves.

Fertilization will accelerate the opening of flower buds and the withering of flowers. Even if you don't pick them off, they will still fall off after fertilization. When potted lemons lack phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, the quality of flowers is relatively low and it is difficult to set fruit. Applying phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to improve the quality of flowering will have a good basic result.

③ Pollination

When the potted lemon grows new buds, or the small buds grow and bloom, it is best to pollinate artificially. Pollination should be done at noon when the flowers are open. Use a cotton swab or brush to circle around the middle of each flower.

Pollination is especially important for lemons grown in high-rise buildings or indoors. If grown outdoors on low floors, artificial pollination is optional.

Some flower lovers' potted lemons are not lacking in fertilizer, but they have done a good job of fertilizing before flowering, but they still do not bear fruit. It is very likely that they are not pollinated. This kind of lemon does not need to be fertilized, and we only need to manually pollinate it to produce fruit.

④Fruit thinning

After artificial pollination, potted lemons may produce multiple fruits at a time. At this time, the fruits should be thinned out in time, and the overly dense and too thin fruits should be thinned out, leaving only one healthy fruit on each strong branch.

If too many fruits are left, the small fruits will not grow large and will fall off one after another. After all, potted plants are different from ground plants. The root system is not well developed and the nutrients absorbed are limited.

If your potted lemon does not produce many fruits, then do not thin them out. But you should pay attention to the later stage. When the growth rate of a certain fruit slows down significantly, you can pick it off in advance. This kind of fruit is eliminated by the plant and will fall sooner or later. Leaving it there will be a waste of nutrients.
