What fertilizer should be used to make shallots grow faster (what foliar fertilizer should be sprayed when growing shallots)

Many people find that the green onion leaves they grow grow slowly. Even if they increase the fertilizer and watering, they still can't make their green onions flourish, which is very disappointing.

In fact, growing chives is quite particular and requires a good method. If you use it, you will grow good chives and the results will be quick. So, what kind of fertilizer do chives need to grow fast?

Apply more potassium fertilizer and use more wood ash

One of the characteristics of green onions is that they like potassium fertilizer and easily absorb it . When planting, you must not lack potassium fertilizer. The potassium fertilizer used for green onions can be divided into base fertilizer, foliar fertilizer, etc.

In terms of the use of base fertilizer, you can add more ash to the soil when transplanting green onions, or burn some wood ash in the field . You can also make your own wood ash soil by mixing grass and soil together and lighting the grass to burn the soil.

Wood ash can be burned with soil, or sprinkled into the soil when planting onions, or directly sprinkled into the onion ridges after planting onions. When watering, it enters the soil with water, which is equivalent to water and fertilizer integration.

Spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate foliar fertilizer

Scallions also need a lot of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to grow, and you can use potassium dihydrogen phosphate as foliar fertilizer . It should be noted here that planting shallots is often different from applying nitrogen fertilizer to other vegetables during the seedling stage.

We are pursuing phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during this period, just like we said before that beans do not need urea. When many people grow vegetables, they often use nitrogen fertilizers to promote seedling growth, but we don’t do that when we grow shallots .

Because shallots are mainly eaten for their leaves and stems, and their fruits do not require the process of flowering and fruiting, we can regard the seedling growth of shallots as the flowering and fruiting period, which requires a large amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

During this period, relying solely on base fertilizer is far from meeting the growth needs of green onions, and a large amount of supplementation is required. If it is not supplemented, the leaves will wither and the stems will be thin, and the growth will be slow.

The correct approach is to use 99% potassium dihydrogen phosphate per mu at 50 grams of 500 times liquid for foliar spraying. During the growth period of the green onion seedlings, spray once every week, spray 2-3 times, so that it can better cooperate with underground fertilizer.

Adequate topdressing fertilizer

In addition, top dressing during the shallot seedling stage is also crucial. You can directly pile fertilizer (such as chicken manure, cow manure, and sheep manure) around the roots of the shallots without worrying about burning the seedlings.

Scallions are very resistant to fertilizer. Water them when the soil is dry. This way, each watering will bring fertilizer to the roots of the scallions for absorption, promoting rapid growth of the scallions.
