Chinese wolfberry

Chinese wolfberry is a type of wolfberry that is mostly a shrub. Its branches are very thin, bow-shaped, and light gray.

The flowers of Chinese wolfberry grow singly on branches or in pairs in leaf axils. The flowering period is between June and November.

There is a circle of fluff at the bottom of the filaments, interwoven into an oval shape. The style extends out from the stamens and the stigma is green.

The flesh of Chinese wolfberry is red and oval, which becomes rectangular as it grows, with a very pointed or blunt tip. The taste is sweet at first and then slightly bitter, and the seeds are very large.

Ningxia wolfberry

Ningxia wolfberry is a shrub that is branched and dense. The twigs are curved and the crown is round, appearing grayish white, grayish yellow, etc., with a smooth surface.

The flowers of Ningxia wolfberry are born in pairs in the leaf axils, with several flowers clustered on shorter branches. They have pedicels and are relatively thick. The corolla is funnel-shaped, with a purple tube that expands from bottom to top.

The berries are red, and may turn orange as they grow under cultivation. They have juicy flesh and their shape varies depending on the environment. Most are oval, ovate, with a pointed tip, or flat. The flowering period is from May to October, and it will bloom and bear fruit at the same time.

Northern wolfberry

Northern wolfberry is a multi-branched shrub. Unlike wolfberry, its leaves are lanceolate, the hairs on the edge of the corolla are sparse, and the stamens are longer than the corolla.

Northern wolfberry can be drunk as wolfberry tea, which has the effects of lowering blood sugar and resisting fatty liver, etc. It can also be used as a green plant in the garden for viewing and greening the environment.

This is the most common variety of wolfberry. There are many more. I will tell you next time.
