When is the best time to transplant Jade Plant (Precautions for transplanting Jade Plant in pots)

Jade leaf, also known as jade leaf, purslane tree and ginkgo wood, is native to Eswatini and South Africa. It is a perennial evergreen succulent shrub of the genus Portulacaceae. If you have just bought a jade leaf or have planted it for too long, you need to transplant it into a new pot.

Jade leaf transplanting time

The transplanting of Jade Plant is usually carried out around February in early spring . The climate at this time is mild and suitable, and the plant is not easily infected by bacteria. It is easy to resume growth after repotting, and its survival rate can be guaranteed.

Transplantation method of Jade Plant

1. Choose a flower pot

The flower pots should be of appropriate size, with good drainage and air permeability . After choosing the flower pots, put a layer of broken bricks or tiles at the bottom of the pots to facilitate drainage.

2. Choose the soil

Soil is essential for transplanting Jade Plant seedlings. Well-drained, loose, breathable and fertile sandy soil is most suitable for the growth of Jade Plant . Leaf mold, coarse sand and rice husk charcoal can be evenly mixed in a ratio of 2:2:1 to prepare the culture soil.

3. Prune the roots

Before transplanting, the roots of the seedlings need to be trimmed, and the withered, rotten, and blackened roots should be selected and cut off . Apply carbendazim on the wounds to prevent the seedlings from being infected by pathogens. After application, place them in a cool place to dry until the wounds shrink.

4. Transplant

Place the roots of the seedlings in the prepared flower pots, and add the culture soil layer by layer until the culture soil is almost filled, and then compact the culture soil with your hands to complete the transplant. After transplanting, place the seedlings in a shaded place, and do not water them immediately. Wait a few days before watering to prevent wound infection and root rot.

Management of Jade Plant after Transplantation

After the Jade Plant is transplanted, place it in an environment with diffuse light , but be careful not to expose it to strong light. Wait until the soil is half dry before watering. If nothing goes wrong, the leaves of the plant will be full again in about two weeks.
