When is the best time to transplant cherry trees (management methods for transplanting cherry seedlings)

Cherry is a fruit that many people like to eat. It has bright color, crystal clear and beautiful, rich in vitamins, and has a large consumer market. After a spring, summer and autumn growth, the cherry tree has stored its nutrients very well and has enough energy to quickly take root and sprout in the new environment after transplanting.

Cherry tree transplanting time

Cherry transplanting is usually done in early spring . The surface temperature drops rapidly in autumn, and it is difficult for the seedlings to grow new roots. In addition, the air is dry, and the seedlings are prone to water loss, which is not conducive to survival.

How to transplant a cherry tree

1. Dig out the tree

Dig up the tree with its roots, preferably with the root system still attached and the bigger the better. This will reduce damage to the root system, especially the taproot, and maximize the chance of survival.

2. Pruning branches

In order to ensure the accumulation of nutrients and avoid wasting them, and to avoid excessive water consumption, the branches should be pruned . Remove most of the original branches, and also remove some of the leaves , leaving a small amount for breathing. The pruned parts should be well protected and coated with protective agents to prevent infection.

3. Transplanting pit

According to the size of the tree, dig a transplanting pit that is wider and deeper than the size of the tree, apply enough base fertilizer , mix it with the cultivation soil , and then disinfect it with disinfectant . Then transplant the tree into it, fill it with cultivation soil , and water it thoroughly to promote root growth.

4. Shade scaffolding

The newly transplanted trees have not yet fully adapted and cannot withstand the strong sunlight, so they need to be shaded. Then, a rack should be put up to prevent them from being blown down by the wind.

Cherry tree transplanting care

For a period of time after planting, water the plants once a week or so , using small amounts of water to flood the plants to prevent gaps between the roots and the soil. Water the plants again after each topdressing .

Wrap the trunk part with film, and then fix the film on the trunk with straw rope. Make sure there is enough temperature and humidity in the wrapped trunk space. Reduce watering during the rainy season and drain excess water in time.
