Use an empty oil barrel, dig a hole and plant some vegetables, and you’ll harvest more than you can eat!

Oil is an essential item in our daily cooking, but when the oil is used up, we don’t know what to do with the empty oil barrel. It seems a bit wasteful to throw it away, but saving it up and selling it will take up space and is not valuable. Huahua will teach you a method to deal with it. It is really effective for growing flowers and vegetables. Don’t throw away empty oil drums in the future!

Used for growing flowers

Many times we want to propagate some plants at home, but find that there are not enough flower pots. At this time, empty oil barrels come in handy. We first use scissors to cut the empty oil barrel in half horizontally, and the remaining half can be used as a flower pot for growing flowers. Fill the empty oil barrel with soil, and then you can plant foliage plants such as green ivy and spider plants into it. This way, not only can you plant more, but the plants also have a larger living space and will grow more vigorously.

Used for growing vegetables

We can process the oil drums as described above and then sow vegetables. We can also drill a few small holes on the oil drums to plant onions and garlic. Onions and garlic are essential seasonings in our daily lives. With the help of empty oil drums, planting and harvesting are no longer a problem!

We used a knife to drill more small holes on the surface of the empty oil barrel, the more the better. The next step is to fill the entire oil barrel with the planting soil we prepared, then put garlic cloves in each small hole, bury them deep in the soil, and finally water and fertilize regularly from the bottle mouth, and a bucket of garlic pillars is ready. Generally, the 5-liter oil barrel we use can grow one kilogram of garlic. When the harvest season comes, you will have no worries about eating garlic sprouts!

The method of planting onions is similar. We need to stack onions and soil layer by layer and put them into the oil barrel. Generally, more than a dozen onions can be placed in one layer, so about 80 onions can be planted in one barrel. Just think about it, if we usually plant onions, we can’t do it without several flower pots. Now, all the problems can be solved with an empty oil barrel. It is really super convenient!

In fact, empty oil barrels can not only be used to grow flowers and vegetables, but sometimes when we make the thin fertilizer water needed for growing flowers, we can also use it as a sealed container for fermentation. Now everyone knows the benefits of empty oil drums. Don’t throw them away in the future. There are many benefits to keeping them!
