Is it better to plant Monstera in a large or small pot? Is it better to plant Monstera in a deep or shallow pot?

Monstera prefers a loose and breathable environment. It is best to choose a flower pot with strong air permeability and avoid using plastic pots and other pots with poor air permeability. In northern regions, it is mostly used as a greenhouse and potted flower. It should be noted that Monstera is toxic and should not be touched with hands or other parts of the body.

Monstera flower pot selection

Monstera is a large flower variety with a tall plant, wide leaves, and a well-developed fleshy root system. Large plants are generally cultivated in large pots . The larger the pot, the better, to prevent the fleshy roots from entangled with each other and affecting growth and development. You can use small pots to cultivate seedlings , change the pots year by year, and finally use large pots for planting.

Monstera requires a deep pot of about 40 cm in height . Its root system is very developed and the plant is large, so it needs to be grown in a larger pot to promote root extension and growth. If the pot is too shallow, it will be top-heavy, affecting root growth and limiting later growth.

Monstera repotting time

The best time to repot Monstera is in spring, March or April . It is recommended to change to a slightly larger pot when the weather is good. The soil can be a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil, and fine sand. Stop watering before removing the pot, tilt the pot to take out the plant, remove the old soil on it, remove the old roots, diseased roots, and dead roots, and place it in a well-ventilated place to dry.

How to repot Monstera

When removing the Monstera from the pot, hold the pot surface, turn the pot upside down, and carefully knock the pot edge to separate the pot soil from the pot. Then grab the hole at the bottom of the pot, lift the pot, and complete the removal. Be careful to remove some of the old soil at the roots, leaving only 1/3, and plant it in the prepared pot soil after the wound is dried.

After that, water it thoroughly and place it in a ventilated and warm environment. Do not water it at will during this period. Do not water it if the soil in the pot is moist.
