Management Technology

Lighting Management

Lotus loves sunlight and cannot survive without it. If the lotus at home is placed on the balcony for maintenance, it must be exposed to the sun for at least 5 hours a day so as not to affect its flowering. During the flowering period, the plant is in a semi-shaded and semi-sunny environment, the flowers and leaves will be "tilted", the leaves will grow wildly, and the appearance will be significantly reduced.

Water Management

When caring for lotus, water is of paramount importance. During the growing season, it is especially important to control the amount of water. Normally, the water layer is about 5 cm. When the temperature is high in summer, the water evaporates quickly, so you must replenish water in time. After winter, the soil in the pot must be kept moist to prevent the lotus roots from drying up due to lack of water.

The quality of water used for watering will also affect the growth of plants. It is best to store tap water used at home for 1 to 2 days before use to prevent the minerals in the water from affecting the growth of plants.

Fertilizer Management

The potting soil for lotus is relatively fertile, so the daily fertilizer requirement is not much. Fertilization mainly consists of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, with nitrogen fertilizers as an auxiliary. Animal feces and decomposed cake fertilizer are the most ideal fertilizers for lotus. Usually, 30 to 40 grams are applied to small flower pots, and 50 to 100 grams at most for slightly larger pots. Do not apply more than that. When fertilizing, mix the fertilizer and soil in a 1:1 ratio and sprinkle it directly on the surface of the flower pot.

During the growing season, lotus leaves often turn yellow and become thin, which is a sign of fertilizer deficiency. You can mix urea, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and soil (the fertilizer-soil ratio is 1:10), roll them into small mud balls, and place them directly in the soil in the center of the pot. It will be effective in 7 days. After flowering, apply compound fertilizer 1 to 2 times according to the growth of the plant.
