Lettuce planting method and steps, lettuce cultivation technology and time

Lettuce is a vegetable that we often eat in our daily lives. It not only grows very fast, but is also very easy to grow. Today, I will briefly introduce to you how to grow lettuce.

Lettuce growing conditions

1. Temperature conditions

Lettuce is a cool-loving and frost-resistant vegetable. The temperature during planting must be controlled above 5 degrees to germinate . The most suitable germination temperature for lettuce is around 18 degrees .

2. Lighting conditions

Lettuce has a high demand for light, so it is important to ensure that there is enough light during planting. If there is insufficient light, the growth of lettuce will be greatly hindered, the leaves will be thin, the head will not be compact enough, and the yield will be reduced.

Lettuce planting time

Lettuce is usually grown in spring from February to April , and can also be grown in autumn and August . Since lettuce is relatively heat-resistant, it can be grown in spring and summer, and lettuce that is more heat-resistant can also be grown in autumn and winter.

Lettuce Planting Steps

1. Variety selection

If a greenhouse planting model is adopted, lettuce varieties with strong cold resistance, strong adaptability and strong disease resistance can be selected to ensure the yield of lettuce and enable it to grow better.

2. Land preparation and fertilization

Lettuce seeds have very high requirements for the seedbed. Because lettuce seeds are very small, not only must the soil be prepared, but it must also be leveled. A certain amount of farmyard manure must be mixed into the soil to lay a good foundation for subsequent growth.

3. Sowing and seedling raising

Sprinkle the lettuce seeds on the seedbed and cover them with a layer of fine soil . In order to better retain soil moisture, you can cover the seedbed with a layer of film after sowing. Be sure to uncover the film when the seedlings emerge from the soil, otherwise they will not breathe.

4. Transplanting

When the seedlings grow to about 5 pieces, they can be transplanted and planted . It is best to plant them in trenches to increase the soil thickness so that the seedling roots can extend better, which is conducive to the growth of lettuce.

Key points for high-yield management of lettuce

1. Seedling management

To increase the yield of lettuce, you need to choose seeds of good quality . Prepare the seedbed, apply well-rotted organic fertilizer in the seedbed, then water it thoroughly, mix the seeds with a small amount of fine sand for easy sowing, and cover with about 0.4 cm of fine soil and mulch after sowing.

2. Temperature management

Lettuce is semi-cold-resistant. The temperature of lettuce should be controlled at 18~20℃ . The suitable temperature for seedling growth is 16~20℃ , and the suitable temperature for growing head lettuce is 18~23℃.

3. Lighting management

Lettuce is a high-light crop that requires ample sunlight to grow normally . If it is grown in a greenhouse, the plants should receive scattered light and be ventilated for a short period of time to prevent the occurrence of pests and diseases caused by excessive humidity and to prevent the generation of harmful gases in the greenhouse.

4. Watering management

Watering is the key link to high lettuce yield. It is best to water the lettuce in the early stage of growth , and not water it in the later stage to avoid rot and split bulbs, thus maintaining the yield of lettuce.
