What fertilizer is best for camellia and when to apply it

What fertilizer is best for camellia and when to apply it

1. What kind of fertilizer is best?

Camellia is at different stages of growth and requires different fertilizers. No matter what fertilizer is applied, the concentration cannot be too high and the amount cannot be too large.

1. Fertilization in spring: It is in a stage of growing new branches, and the main fertilization is nitrogen fertilizer, and the frequency of fertilization is usually once every 4-6 days.

2. Summer fertilization: At the end of spring and the beginning of summer, it will be in the budding stage. At this time, you should apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, less nitrogen fertilizer, or stop applying directly. When it gets to the hottest time, it will stop growing and no fertilizer is needed at this time.

3. Fertilization in autumn and winter: Fertilizing it in autumn is mainly to make it more resistant to cold and to help it survive the winter better. Usually, some low-concentration phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are applied.

2. When to apply fertilizer

The main time for fertilizing is around February and March in spring. Fertilizing at this time will help it sprout new branches better. Fertilization at the beginning of summer is mainly around May and June, which helps it to form buds better. In autumn and winter, fertilizer should be applied around October to November. In Taiwan, the temperature will become very low, so there is no need to apply fertilizer at this time.
