1. Grafting timeThere are not many restrictions on the time for grafting. It is generally in March-May in spring or October-November in autumn. The climate in these two stages is relatively mild and suitable, without too many ups and downs, which is more conducive to combined growth and easier to recover after grafting. The summer climate is hot and dry, which easily breeds bacteria, and the scorching sun will cause water to evaporate too quickly. The winter temperature is very cold and the growth rate is relatively slow. Grafting at this time will not be beneficial to the recovery of the plant. 2. Grafting method1. Prepare a cactus with a diameter of not less than 5 cm or a height of more than 20 cm as a rootstock. It should be in good growth condition and free from diseases and pests. This will help its later growth. 2. Choose a healthy plant and cut off strong branches from it, just the top 2-4 nodes are enough, they don’t need to be too long. 3. Cut a wedge shape on the rootstock and a hole on the bottom of the scion. Use your hands to insert the scion into it and fit them tightly together. To prevent the scion from slipping out, you can pull out the cactus thorns to secure it. |
