What fertilizers should be used to improve acidic soil? How to improve soil acidity if it is too high?

During the growth process, plants need a lot of nutrients to supply the tree body and fruits. We will artificially add a certain amount of various elements to the plants.

During use, since some crops are immovable, fertilizer abuse and large-scale use of chemical fertilizers cause a series of problems such as soil compaction and acidification. So, how to deal with and improve the soil when it becomes acidic?

Acidic soil improvement methods

For severely acidified soil, a simple and direct method is to apply quicklime . Quicklime works quickly after use, and can quickly increase the pH value of the soil, allowing the acidified soil to quickly restore its production function.

However, the effect of lime acidification is too drastic, the dosage is not easy to control, and the duration of effect is short. However, long-term excessive application will also cause the soil to be alkaline and compacted, which is not conducive to root growth. It is generally only suitable for use when there is no crop planted in the soil.

If you want to improve acidic soil, you can use farmyard manure, phosphate rock powder, lime nitrogen, ammonium bicarbonate , etc. Among them, farmyard manure as a base fertilizer can increase the organic matter in the soil. In addition, there is calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer , which is an alkaline fertilizer that can greatly improve acidic soil.

How to fertilize acidic soil

1. Organic fertilizer and microbial fertilizer

We can increase the use of organic fertilizers and microbial fertilizers to adjust soil acidity through the buffering effect of organic matter. Water-soluble fertilizers containing humic acid also have a good effect on buffering and regulating soil acidity and alkalinity.

2. Alkaline fertilizer

Another method is to increase the use of physiological alkaline fertilizers, such as calcium fertilizers, magnesium fertilizers, etc. We can also use soil conditioners made from shells, oyster shells, and corals containing calcium, magnesium and other elements to achieve the purpose of safely regulating soil acidity.

3. Fertilization period

Healthy soil should avoid soil acidification, and it is recommended to apply fertilizer during the crop topdressing period. It is preferred to choose macronutrient water-soluble fertilizers, which are physiologically neutral fertilizers that are not easy to cause soil acidification.

At the same time, fertilizers containing humic acid, amino acids and microbial agents should be applied regularly. This can not only supplement soil organic matter, but also improve and buffer soil acidity.
