Winter melon can be planted twice a year . The planting time of winter melon is different according to the different climates in different regions. Generally, December to March of the following year can be regarded as spring planting, and from July to September is autumn planting. In this way, winter melon is planted all year round.

Winter melon planting conditions

1. Temperature

Wax gourd is a relatively warm-loving and heat-resistant plant. The temperature for its growth and development is 26-30℃. The temperature suitable for the germination of wax gourd seeds is 27-30℃. The minimum temperature for root growth is 13-16℃, which is the highest requirement among melon vegetables. The suitable temperature for pollination and fruiting is around 25℃. When the temperature is below 20℃, it is not conducive to the growth and development of wax gourd.

2. Sunshine

Wax gourd is a short-day crop. Low temperature is conducive to the differentiation of flower buds, but it requires sufficient light throughout the development period. If it encounters rainy and low-temperature weather during the fruiting period, the flowers will fall, the melons will rot and rot. When the leaf area of ​​​​the wax gourd becomes larger, a lot of water will be needed, but too high or too low air humidity is not conducive to pollination, fruit setting and fruit development.
