How to propagate round-leaf peperomia by cuttings How to propagate round-leaf peperomia by cuttings

After the cuttings of round-leaf peperomia are placed in a ventilated and bright place, they will generally take root and sprout in one to two months. The ambient temperature should be kept above 20 degrees. If the temperature is around 18 degrees, the germination rate of the leaves will be reduced, and even leaf cuttings may fail.

Peperomia cutting time

Cuttings of peperomia can be taken in spring , and the best time is around April to May each year . If its growth environment is controlled and its growth temperature is artificially controlled, cuttings can be taken all year round.

How to propagate round-leaf peperomia by cuttings

Cutting steps

Cut a section of the top branch from a mature, disease-free round-leaf peperomia, and control the length to about 5-10 cm. Cut off the leaves at the lower part, leaving 1-2 leaves on the upper part. After drying, insert it into the soil, water it once, and maintain it in semi-shade.

Maintenance

Disinfection: Before cutting round-leaf peperomia, you can use carbendazim to disinfect it and soak the bottom for about 10 minutes, which can speed up rooting.

Ventilation: After the round-leaf peperomia takes root, it can be exposed to the sun. After cuttings, place it in a cool and ventilated place, water it thoroughly to keep it moist, and wait for the branches to take root.

Fertilization: Apply a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer to the round-leaved peperomia plant after planting, and fertilize it once or twice a month during the growth period. But you don't have to apply nitrogen fertilizer all the time. By September, nitrogen fertilizers should be stopped and replaced with appropriate amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers so that the plant can survive the cold winter smoothly.

Watering: Water the peperomia once after cutting to keep the soil moist. Water again when the soil is about to dry. Ensure a certain air humidity so that it can take root quickly.

Can round-leaf peperomia be grown directly in water?

Round-leaf peperomia can be grown directly in water . Round-leaf peperomia needs to change the water once a day, clean the sticky substances produced on the roots, and then add clean water. After new fibrous roots grow out, the water can be changed every 2-3 days.
