Is Gypsophila easy to grow?

Gypsophila is easy to grow and survive. First of all , you need to choose the right planting time. Gypsophila grows faster in spring.

Therefore, it is best to plant baby's breath in spring, and you need to observe the weather before planting. It is best to choose cooler weather for planting to allow baby's breath to grow better.

When to plant baby's breath

There are still differences in the planting of baby's breath in the north and south of China. However, it is generally more appropriate to sow in spring, while in the south, it can also be chosen in autumn. In other words, it is appropriate to sow around May or September every year .

Where is it suitable to plant baby's breath

Gypsophila prefers a warm, humid and sunny environment. It is relatively shade-tolerant and cold-resistant. It grows best in well-drained, fertile and loose loam. The best soil for cultivation is slightly alkaline lime loam, with good drainage and sunshine.

When the plant is over 20cm tall, reduce the amount of watering as much as possible. A little drought can promote flowering, especially after flowering, poor drainage or long-term rain will cause the roots to rot. It likes warmth and avoids high temperature and humidity. The optimum temperature for growth is 10-25℃.

It is better to keep the light exposure to 4 to 6 hours a day, avoid direct sunlight and strong ultraviolet rays, and place it in a ventilated environment, the flowers of Gypsophila paniculata will be very bright.

4. Watering

When watering baby's breath, you should adhere to the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly if you do. At the same time, avoid watering too much to form waterlogging. In summer, you can spray water on the leaves to cool down and increase humidity. According to the season, it should be sprayed twice a day in summer, once every 2 to 4 days in spring and autumn, and once every 10 days in winter.

5. Fertilization

Gypsophila grows fast and consumes fertilizer quickly, so fertilization should be guaranteed every 7 to 10 days. Use compound fertilizer or nutrient solution, and be sure to dilute it with water before application. Adhere to the principle of small amounts and frequent applications. Avoid using concentrated fertilizers and raw fertilizers.
