Saffron, also known as saffron, is native to Greece and is mainly distributed in the Middle East, Iran, Southern Europe and other regions. It is also distributed in small quantities in Tibet and other places in my country. Is saffron easy to grow?Saffron is easy to grow. When planting, it should be done in September in autumn, because the climate at this time is more suitable for its growth. In the south, it can be delayed for a while, but in the north, it should be planted earlier to avoid the temperature becoming too low to affect its growth. Where is saffron suitable for planting?Saffron is generally more suitable for planting in the Yellow River Basin and the Yangtze River Basin in my country. Henan Province has obvious planting advantages. However, by planting in greenhouses or using other insulation methods, saffron can be grown in most parts of the country. Saffron is a subtropical plant that likes to grow in warm and humid places. The suitable temperature for growth is about 15 degrees Celsius, and the temperature for flowering is between 16-20 degrees Celsius. The soil should be fertile, loose and well-drained. The plant cannot grow well in heavy clay soil. Saffron cultivation technology1. Soil selection Before planting, you must first choose the most suitable soil. Slightly alkaline soil is a better choice. The soil needs to have good looseness and air permeability to ensure the smooth progress of later maintenance. 2. Processing bulbs Saffron bulbs need to be processed simply before planting. It is best to remove the outermost brown skin and peel it off directly with your hands. If you plant it directly without processing, it will easily breed bacteria. After removing the skin, soak it in disinfectant and let it sit for about 30 minutes. 3. Formal planting After preparing the bulbs, you also need to prepare the planting holes. Before planting, dig some small holes on the surface of the soil. A depth of about 10 cm is enough. Then place the processed bulbs with the pointed end facing upward into the small hole, fill the gaps, compact them, and then water to keep the soil moist. 4. Post-maintenance After planting, you should also pay attention to the later maintenance. It is best not to have too much sunlight in the early stage of planting. A cool and ventilated environment is most suitable. The temperature should not be too high at this time, and it can be controlled at about 5 degrees Celsius and within 10 degrees Celsius. It will take about half a month for the roots to grow out and gradually adapt to the soil environment. The root system will be fully developed in about 30 days. At this time, the plant will enter the growth period and the surrounding temperature needs to be raised to approximately between 10 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius. Water to keep the soil moist, and in a month the saffron will gradually bloom. 5. Collect flowers By mid-November, most of the flowers have bloomed, and it is time to start collecting the flowers. As long as the flowers are open, the filaments can be extracted. |
