Wolfberry planting technology

Wolfberry planting technology

1. Land planning, leveling and improvement

Land planning and grading

Wolfberry has strong adaptability, is not demanding on soil, and can grow on all kinds of land. However, if you want high-quality and high-yield wolfberries, it is best to choose light loam, sandy loam and loam with relatively thick soil and good aeration.

Reasonable land preparation can effectively protect wolfberry seedlings from drought and flooding, and can ensure the same depth of irrigation. It can reduce the harm of saline-alkali to seedlings and improve the survival rate.

Soil Improvement

Dig a hole and fill it with sand: After digging out the saline-alkali soil, put in sand, water it and then plant.

Reasonable land watering: irrigate more in winter water one year before planting, and water in time after planting. This can not only avoid the harm of saline-alkali, but also ensure the growth of wolfberry.

Loosen the soil immediately after watering: Such measures can increase the soil temperature, loosen the soil, reduce water evaporation, and reduce weeds, thereby increasing the survival rate of seedlings.

Cover the ground: Cover the soil surface with crop straw, leaves, bark or ground cover plants. This can reduce water evaporation, inhibit soil alkalinization, reduce surface runoff, and help increase the organic matter content of the land. It is best to use local covering materials, based on the principle of cheapness and ease of use.

Increase the application of organic fertilizer: The use of natural organic fertilizer is an indispensable step in improving saline-alkali land. It is the foundation of land improvement and the key to consolidating the improvement effect of saline-alkali land. Using more organic fertilizers can make the land with high salinity and alkali content loose, and the land's ability to retain water and fertilizer is enhanced. In addition, the organic acids in organic fertilizers can partially neutralize the alkalinity of the soil. In general, the higher the organic matter content of the soil, the better it is in inhibiting the movement of water and salt.

2. Seedling Preparation

Seedling transportation time

The best time is mid-March to early April. If it is too early, the ground has not thawed and the seedlings cannot be taken out. If it is too late, the seedlings have sprouted and cannot be transported over long distances. Therefore, the seedlings should be transported before the end of March.

Seedling quality requirements

When taking seedlings, it is required to ensure that the roots are intact. The main root must be intact and the lateral roots must not be damaged. Place the seedlings in a cool place immediately after taking them out.

Precautions in transporting seedlings

The roots of the seedlings being transported should be covered with soil, put into bags, some sawdust should be placed under the bags, and then water should be sprinkled and the bags should be tied up. During transportation, be careful to prevent it from drying out and becoming moldy.

Post-delivery processing

The seedlings should be planted immediately after they are delivered. If they cannot be planted immediately, choose a place with good drainage, high terrain and sheltered from the wind for transplanting. When transplanting, the seedlings should be placed facing south and compacted with wet soil in layers. In order to prevent drying out and mildew, they should be checked frequently.

3. Planting technology

Basic knowledge of seedlings

The impact of seedling foundation on growth and development: The more complete the roots of the seedlings are, the better they will grow after planting.

Growth of new roots: The old roots that have been dug up must be trimmed before planting, which is conducive to the production of new roots.

Specific methods of planting

When: Plant in spring, when the ground thaws and before germination.

Density: The row spacing of each wolfberry plant is 1.4 meters x 2 meters, and 238 plants are planted per mu.

Before planting, dig holes at designated spots according to the row spacing of each plant: 43cm long × 43cm wide × 43cm deep.

Several environmental factors to pay attention to when planting: ① Prune the seedlings before planting. ② Soak the seedlings. ③ Fertilization in the planting hole must be mixed evenly. ④The planting depth must be consistent with the depth at which the plant grew in the original nursery.

4. Water and fertilizer management

Watering

Water the wolfberries immediately after planting, and then water them once a week or so depending on the soil conditions. Wait until the seedlings are fully grown before watering for the third time. Fertilize once after the third watering, and fertilize once after each watering thereafter. It only needs to be watered about 7 times throughout the year. (According to local conditions)

Fertilization

Fertilization before planting: Before planting, two cubic meters of fertilizers are required to be mixed in the planting pit before planting.

Top dressing: Top dressing can only begin after the seedlings have grown into trees.

The first topdressing: Phosphorus fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer, supplemented with nitrogen fertilizer, and deep application is best.

The second top dressing: mainly compound fertilizer, when the flower is blooming.

The third top dressing: mix nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer, the proportion of nitrogen fertilizer should be higher than that of phosphorus fertilizer.

Apply base fertilizer in autumn: At the end of fruit picking, in early October, fertilizing at this time is a basic annual task. Mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by chemical fertilizer. The amount of fertilizer should be twice as much as the organic fertilizer applied before planting, and an additional slow-acting inorganic fertilizer should be used.
