How to plant newly bought orchids? Planting methods for newly bought orchids

For newly bought orchids, first cut off the yellow leaves of the dead branches on the plants, prune the roots appropriately, first cut off the rotten roots, and then properly prune the old roots, dead roots and dense roots. Spray the flower pot around the orchid plants to encourage the orchid to gradually absorb water and replenish moisture.

Planting the orchids you bought

1. Soak the roots and dry them

The orchids you just bought should be soaked in water, which can replenish water to the dry roots and increase the germination rate. After the roots are softened, it will be easier to plant. Generally, soak for 5 minutes, take them out and put them in a scattered light to dry, and cover them with a shade net to prevent the leaves from dehydrating.

2. Pot soil preparation

To make orchids grow better, you need to choose a good flower pot and match it with the potting soil. Generally, you should choose a ceramic pot with good air permeability, and then spread a layer of soil with larger particles at the bottom of the pot, such as bricks, slag, fruit shells, etc., to increase its water absorption capacity, and add a small amount of micro-particle planting material.

3. Prepare the pot

Place the orchid vertically in the pot, fill it with soil, and place its roots in the layer where the small particles are planted. When potting, shake it appropriately to make the roots stick closer to the soil so that it can better adapt to the environment. Finally, cover the surface with moss.

4. Watering after rooting

After the orchid is potted, the first watering is the rooting water. As the name suggests, it is mainly used to fix the roots. First, use a small amount of water and slowly pour it along the edge of the pot until the water stops flowing from the bottom of the pot. After waiting for five minutes, water it again with a small amount of water to fill the planting material with water, but do not pour it on the leaf core.

Key points for caring for newly bought orchids

After planting, orchids need to be watered once to fix the roots. First, water a small amount and then slowly penetrate along the edge of the flower pot until the bottom of the pot seeps.

Wait for 5 minutes before re-watering so that the plants and plants can absorb enough water. After watering, keep it in a warm, well-ventilated and cool environment. Don't rush to enjoy the sun, and slowly increase the light after the orchid resumes growth.
