Cultivation techniques and precautions of Jade Plant

The Jade Plant potted plant has become an ideal indoor plant with its unique appearance, drought and shade tolerance, high ornamental value and easy maintenance. It not only beautifies the environment, but also purifies the air. Let’s learn together the cultivation techniques and precautions of Jade Plant.

1. Lighting management

Jade plant likes sunlight. Except for the need for appropriate shading in summer, it should be exposed to more sunlight in other seasons to avoid excessive growth. In summer, it should be placed in a ventilated and cool place to avoid direct sunlight. In winter, it should be placed in a warm and sunny place, away from cold and strong winds.

2. Temperature control

The most suitable growth temperature is 15℃-25℃. In winter, the maintenance temperature must be kept above 7°C to avoid frostbite.

3. Watering method

Jade Plant is drought-tolerant but afraid of waterlogging, so water it when the soil is dry and then wet. You can insert a bamboo stick at the edge of the pot to check the soil moisture, and then water it thoroughly when the stick feels dry. Watering should be properly controlled in summer and winter to avoid water accumulation and root rot.

4. Fertilization points

During the growing season, apply thin fertilizers frequently, and apply balanced fertilizer and water with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium once every half a month in spring and autumn. After the flowering period, reduce fertilization appropriately and stop fertilizing in winter.

5. Pruning and shaping

Spring is the best time for pruning. You can cut off branches that are too long, too dense, or sickly to keep the plant in beautiful shape. After the flowering period, you can cut off the remaining flowers, diseased leaves and dead branches to promote the germination of new buds.

In short, when growing Jade Plants, you should also pay attention to repotting and changing the soil every spring or autumn to improve soil structure and increase fertility. In summer, direct sunlight should be avoided and a sunshade net can be used. In winter, it needs to be moved indoors to keep warm and avoid temperatures below 5℃.
