Autumn cabbage should be sown three to five days before or after the beginning of autumn, or it can be done earlier or later depending on the actual weather conditions. It prefers a slightly cooler climate, with temperatures between 18-20 degrees being better for growth.

1. Prepare the soil

Cabbage can be grown in both the north and the south. It has low requirements for soil and can grow in many types of soil. In order to promote growth, it is best to provide sandy loam that is rich in organic matter, loose and fertile, prepare the land and apply fertilization in advance, and apply decomposed organic fertilizer.

2. Prepare seeds

Before sowing autumn cabbage, you must select the seeds carefully. The seeds must be cold-resistant and disease-free. They should be dried in the sun for 1-2 days before sowing and disinfected. Then, they should be soaked in warm water at 55 degrees for about 15-20 minutes and mixed with Benomyl for sterilization and disinfection.

3. Sowing

Sow the cabbage seeds and pay attention to the planting density. Cover them with a thin layer of fine soil after sowing, water to keep them moist, and apply fertilizer in time to ensure good nutrition. Generally, seedlings will emerge in about four to five days.

Precautions for planting autumn cabbage

When the cabbage seedlings grow 4-5 leaves, they can be transplanted. When pulling out the seedlings, pull them out with the soil ball so that they can survive faster. Plant them on the prepared ground with a row spacing of 35 cm and a plant spacing of 30 cm. This will not only facilitate later field operations, but also reduce diseases.
