How to grow grapes in pots and how to grow them at home

Potted grapes should be grown on a balcony or terrace , because the plants prefer a sunny and warm growing environment so that they can better carry out photosynthesis and produce large and sweet fruits.

Growth habits of potted grapes

Potted grapes prefer a warm, humid, sunny municipal environment. The soil requirements are loose, fertile, and well-drained. They are afraid of waterlogging and are easily diseased. The plants are smaller in size and are easier to move than those planted in the ground.

Potted grape cultivation technology

1. Select container

Potted grapes can be grown in wooden pots, ceramic pots, purple clay pots, plastic pots, etc. The diameter of the pot is about 20-25 cm, depending on the size of the plant.

2. Choose potting soil

It is best to use loose, fertile, organic-rich soil to plant potted grapes. Commonly used substrates include charcoal soil, garden soil, leaf mold, sand and gravel, bone meal, expanded chicken manure, etc.

3. Planting

First disinfect the flowerpot, then fill it with the prepared soil, and then you can directly use the seedlings for cuttings. Generally, it is most appropriate to cut 2 branches in each pot. Keep the soil moist in the later stage.

Precautions for planting grape vines in pots

1. Change pots and soil

After the potted grapes have grown for 1-2 years, the container will gradually be unable to meet their growth needs, and the potting soil will need to be replaced in time. Before changing the pot and soil, some dead and old roots need to be trimmed off.

2. Apply less fertilizer and more often

Potted grapes need to be fertilized according to the principle of "less fertilizer and more application". Use cake fertilizer water once a month, and increase the application appropriately during the fruiting period.
