Cultivation methods and precautions of heart-leaf ball orchid

Soil requirements

Hoya is suitable for indoor cultivation. Potting soil can be mixed with garden soil, leaf mold and sand in a ratio of 2:2:1, and drainage is required.

Lighting requirements

The amount of light will affect the brightness of the Hoya flowers. If you want colorful and long-lasting flowering, it is best to place the Hoya in the brightest place indoors, but avoid direct sunlight to avoid burning the leaves. Potted plants should be placed in a sunny place, avoiding direct sunlight. They can be placed not far from the south window indoors to keep the leaves green and bright and to ensure good flowering. In summer, it needs to be moved to a shaded place to prevent direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow easily. If it is placed in a place with insufficient light for a long time, the leaf color will become lighter and the flowers will be fewer and less bright. You can use wire to make a loop, wrap the branches around it, and let them climb and grow, which is more conducive to light. The position of the pot cannot be moved after buds appear, and the flower ball should always face the best light.

Temperature requirements

It likes warmth and humidity, and the suitable temperature for growth is 18-28℃. After mid-October, the temperature should be 10-14℃. It should be placed in a dry and well-lit place for wintering, and the minimum temperature for wintering is 7℃. If the temperature is lower than 5℃, it is susceptible to cold damage, causing leaf fall or even death of the entire plant.

Reproduction method

Propagation is by cuttings or layering, and rooting is easy. Generally speaking, cuttings are carried out in late spring; cut a stem tip of about 10 cm, apply rooting agent on the cut and then insert it into the soil for cuttings. Bud cuttings can also be used. The soil temperature should be kept at 20-25℃ during cuttings. After about 8 to 10 weeks of cultivation, roots will grow. After two weeks, when the roots are well developed, they can be transplanted. High branch layering can be done in spring.
