Coriander planting season and method steps How to plant coriander to make it sprout quickly

Coriander, also known as cilantro, is a food that some people love and some people hate. Some people think it smells very good and love to eat it; others think it smells very bad and avoid it.

Coriander planting season

Coriander is tolerant to low temperatures and has strong cold tolerance. The suitable growth temperature is 17~20℃ . It grows slowly above 20℃ and stops growing when it exceeds 30℃. It can tolerate low temperatures of -1~2℃. Coriander in the southern hemisphere can be sown all year round, and most of it is planted in autumn.

June and July are the hot summer months with high temperature and humidity. In most areas, June to August is the off-season for vegetable production . Due to the high temperature, heat-sensitive vegetables cannot be grown. Coriander is in short supply in the market and the price is very high.

It is more difficult to grow coriander in June and July. At this season, you must pay attention to shading, moisture conservation and waterlogging prevention measures to ensure successful cultivation.

Coriander Planting Methods and Techniques

1. Seed treatment

The shell of coriander seeds is hard, and the general sowing method can easily cause slow germination. Before sowing, you can spread the seeds on a flat ground, crush them with a not too hard object to break the shell, and then sow them directly, or soak the seeds to germinate. Generally, seedlings will emerge about 8-13 days after sowing.

2. Site selection and land preparation

The land for planting coriander should be fertile, well-ventilated semi-sandy soil with good irrigation conditions and drainage measures. The land should be deep-turned and dug when preparing the land. The finer the soil, the better, to avoid large clods that will affect the emergence of seedlings and the management of coriander in the later stage. In addition, a certain amount of basal fertilizer should be applied to ensure future growth.

3. Sowing seeds

Before planting, you can rake the soil to make it moist. The sowing method is often used. Because the seeds are too small to prevent over-dense sowing, you can mix the seeds in sandy soil, evenly spread the seeds, and then cover them with a thin layer of fine sand.

If the sandy soil is too dry, you can use a sprayer to spray the soil. Avoid watering it thoroughly with a hose or large amounts of water. Finally, cover it with a film.

4. Seedling management

When the coriander seedlings grow 3-4 leaves, remove the film in time to prevent high temperature from scalding the seedlings. During the coriander seedling stage, as long as the soil is moist, there is no need to rush to water. After the coriander seedlings are planted, you can water them once with an appropriate amount. During the growth process, as long as the soil remains moist, water them appropriately during droughts.

5

, Field Management

If the basic fertility is low, there is no need to apply topdressing during the growth period. However, if the soil nutrients are found to be insufficient during the cultivation process, urea and phosphate fertilizers should be applied in time to ensure growth.

Whether it is row sowing or broadcast sowing, there is no need to till the soil, but you must pay attention to weeding. There are fewer insect pests, but you must pay attention to the prevention and control of aphids. Basically, there will not be any major problems.
