When is the season when wheat is ripe? When is the season when wheat is ripe?

Wheat is generally divided into spring wheat and winter wheat according to factors such as the lowest temperature, highest temperature, effective accumulated temperature and light conditions in different regions. The wheat varieties used in different regions vary greatly, but the maturity period of wheat in the same category is relatively close.

Wheat harvest season

Autumn-sown wheat is usually sown in September and October, and harvested from mid-March to late July. Wheat matures earlier in the south than in the north, and wheat matures later in high-altitude areas than in low-latitude areas.

Winter wheat is mainly distributed in the area south of Liaodong, and is planted on a large scale in provinces such as Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, and Shaanxi. It is also planted in Sichuan, Hubei and South China in the Yangtze River Basin.

The wheat harvest period in South China is from mid-March to early May ; the winter wheat harvest in Southwest China is from late April to early June ; the winter wheat harvest in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River is from mid-May to early June ; the Huanghuai region is from late May to mid-June; and the northern winter wheat area is from mid-June to late June.

Spring wheat is grown in Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is usually sown from early March to mid-May and matures from mid-July to mid-September. The maturity period in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is generally from late August to mid-September.

Wheat growing conditions and growing period

Wheat is a long-day plant, suitable for planting within the range of 17°-50° north latitude. It is also cultivated on the plateau of Tibet at an altitude of about 4,000 meters . The growing period of spring wheat is generally about 100 days, while the growing period of winter wheat is about 180 days .

There are many differences in wheat cultivation technology in different regions. We can learn from them, but we cannot copy them. Otherwise, it will be difficult to achieve the goal of high and stable yields.
