Goldfish Chlorophytum cutting method and precautions How to achieve a high survival rate of cuttings

When the goldfish spider plant is in full bloom, it looks like little goldfish hanging on the branches, giving people a very festive feeling, especially when it is grown on the eve of the year, it is even more prosperous and festive, so flower lovers who like to grow goldfish spider plants also like to grow them very much. In addition to buying potted plants, you can also use cuttings to propagate goldfish spider plants.

When is the best month to plant goldfish?

The best time to take cuttings of Chlorophytum comosum is in spring and autumn, because the temperature in these two seasons will be between 18-22 degrees, which is the peak growth period of Chlorophytum comosum, and it is easier to survive when taken cuttings.

In spring, when the goldfish spider plant needs to be pruned after it blooms, we can also take the pruned branches for cuttings. In autumn, the goldfish spider plant also needs to be properly pruned.

The main thing is to cut off the overgrown branches, withered and weak branches. Such branches will be much worse than the branches pruned in spring, so the best time for cuttings is still in spring.

How to propagate the goldfish plant by cuttings

1. Prepare the substrate

When cuttings of goldfish vine, you must first prepare a suitable substrate and choose a loose, breathable, humus-rich soil. You can mix perlite, vermiculite, and peat soil, and add a solution of carbendazim to provide the goldfish vine with a healthy growth environment.

2. Processing cuttings

The cuttings for the goldfish plant should be one-year-old branches with a length of about 10 cm. Cut the bottom diagonally to facilitate burying in the soil, then remove the lower end completely, leaving only 4 pieces on the top to reduce water consumption and help the goldfish plant take root.

3. Insert the seeds into the soil

Bury the goldfish plant directly into the substrate, about 3 cm deep. Be careful not to bury it too deep, otherwise it will affect the rooting rate. After planting the goldfish plant, gently compact the surrounding soil, water it thoroughly, and keep it moist.

Precautions for cuttings of Chlorophytum comosum

When cuttings of the goldfish plant, do not use tender branches, otherwise they will easily wither and die. The prepared substrate should be slightly acidic. Alkaline soil will cause the survival rate of the plant to decrease. In addition, the goldfish plant should be watered thoroughly after being planted in the soil.
