The growth environment and local conditions of Purslane

Purslane Growth Environment and Conditions

Purslane is produced in all parts of China, north and south, mainly distributed in temperate and tropical regions. It has strong adaptability to the environment and is commonly found in vegetable gardens, farmlands, and roadsides. It is a common weed in the fields.

Purslane Growing Conditions

Purslane likes high temperature and humid environment, is drought-resistant and water-resistant, and likes sunny environment. It is suitable for cultivation in various fields and slopes, and is suitable for planting in loose, fertile neutral and slightly acidic soil.

Purslane growth temperature

Purslane likes a warm environment. The suitable growth temperature is between 20-30 degrees. The suitable germination temperature is 18 degrees. When the temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius, it can be sown in stages.

Purslane growth process

Purslane is usually sown in spring and grows vigorously in summer and autumn. It blooms from May to August each year and bears fruit from June to September. Its growth cycle is relatively short.

Purslane planting time and method

1. If Purslane is planted in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas, the best time is mid-to-late May in spring. If it is planted in protected areas, it can be sown one month in advance. June to August is the peak growth period. If it is cultivated in the open field in North China, it can be sown in early to mid-June.

2. Seeds: Purslane is usually propagated by seeds. It is best to choose seeds collected from the wild or left during cultivation. Its seeds are small, so the land must be prepared finely. Keep the soil moist after sowing, and seedlings will emerge in 7-10 days.

3. Cuttings: Purslane can also be propagated by cuttings. Choose strong branches from the seedlings sown that year or wild seedlings. Leave 3-5 nodes in each section. Finely prepare the soil before cuttings and apply enough base fertilizer. The density of cuttings is 3 cm × 5 cm. The depth of cuttings in the soil is about 3 cm. Keep the soil moist and pay attention to shade. It will survive after a week.
