What is the best season to plant sunflowers? What month is suitable for planting?

Sunflowers are mainly divided into two categories: edible and ornamental. The flower spikes, seeds, husks, and stems can be used as feed and industrial raw materials, such as rayon and pulp. Temperatures above 15 degrees plus sunlight are its favorite growth. No matter how the seasons change, it can stay outdoors all the time. Pay more attention to changes in ambient temperature when planting.

Sunflower Planting Season

The sowing time of sunflowers is spring sowing or summer sowing according to the growth period of the variety, usually from March to April , avoiding the season when diseases are prone to occur. Because the temperature in April is very warm, the survival rate after sowing is relatively high.

April is also the most suitable month to sow sunflowers. The planting time of greenhouse sunflowers is different from that of open-air planting. Generally, greenhouses can be planted in all seasons.

The whole process of sunflower planting

1. Sunflowers need to be germinated before sowing. Soak a paper towel in water and cover the seeds. They will germinate in about two days. You can also soak them in water, usually overnight.

2. Potted sunflower seeds are small and have relatively weak soil-penetrating ability. They should not be sown too deep, usually about one centimeter. After sowing, cover with soil and lightly press down. If you are raising seedlings in winter and spring, you can cover them with film to keep them warm and shorten the emergence time.

3. Keep the soil moist after sowing. Seedlings will emerge in three to five days in summer and five to ten days in winter and spring. After growing two or three leaves, you need to move the small pot for germinating seeds to a large pot.
