Where is beet suitable for growing? What are the conditions of the growing area?

Beet growing area

Beet is a common vegetable crop, widely grown in temperate and cold temperate zones. At the same time, the ecological adaptability of this crop is very wide and it can be grown in most parts of my country, but it is mainly distributed north of 40° north latitude, such as various provinces in Northeast, Northwest and North China.

Beet growing environment

1. Soil requirements

Beet is a common warm-loving crop with relatively high cold resistance. It also has relatively high requirements for soil. It prefers soil with deep soil layer, rich organic matter and good water and fertilizer retention properties. The base fertilizer can be mainly manure.

2. Lighting requirements

Beet is a long-day crop that requires 10-12 hours of light per day. If the light time is insufficient, the plant will be stunted and the sugar content will be reduced, but it is best not to exceed 14 hours.

Sugar beet growing conditions

Generally speaking, beets are grown in temperate or cold temperate regions. Secondly, the planting site should be in a sunny, relatively flat, loose soil, and fertile place.

It is best to plant in areas where wheat, corn, potatoes, and vegetables have not been planted for more than four years to avoid repeated planting. In addition, do not choose humid land or arable land that is prone to waterlogging or has high water levels. Too humid land can easily cause beetroot rot and other diseases during growth.
