Wheat growing areaWheat is grown in a wide range of areas, from the cold Mohe area in my country to the southern part of Guangdong Province in the subtropics, from the arid foot of the Tianshan Mountains in the west to the humid southeastern provinces and Taiwan in the east. Its vertical distribution is particularly unique, with wheat being grown from the Turpan Basin 154m below sea level to the Tibet region at an altitude of 4040m. Wheat growing environmentWheat grows in deep soil layers. Soil with deeper tillage layers is conducive to conserving fertilizer and water and promoting the development of wheat roots. The growth process of wheat is closely related to soil, water, air, and temperature. It is difficult to achieve high yields in sandy soil and heavy clay. The average temperature of winter wheat is between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, that of semi-winter wheat is between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius, and that of spring wheat is between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius. Remember that wheat is a long-day crop, and 8-12 hours of sunlight must be guaranteed every day. If there is insufficient sunlight, it will not be able to ear and bear fruit. The nutritional content of wheat varies greatly depending on the variety and environmental conditions. Wheat grown in strong light has a higher protein content and is more elastic, making it suitable for baking bread. Wheat grains grown in a humid environment have a lower protein content, are softer and have poor gluten. This shows that geographical location and climate have a very important influence on the process of wheat formation. Suitable soil for wheatWheat has a very developed root system. It needs fertile soil, deep soil, good water and fertilizer retention and good air permeability to grow. However, not all places have such good land. There are still many hilly thin lands and riverbed sand beaches. Not all of these lands can be improved or have been improved. Therefore, different planting measures should be taken according to different soil environments. Hilly and thin land : The soil in hilly and thin land is barren, the ground temperature is not good, and the seedlings emerge slowly. Therefore, the planting time should be earlier, and try to plant before winter to make the wheat in the strong seedling stage. Riverbed and beach : Because the upper and lower layers of the soil are sandy, although the seedlings can emerge early, due to the poor water and fertilizer retention of the soil, the seedlings are not strong and may not survive the attack of severe cold, so it is better to plant them later. Deep soil plowing : Deep soil plowing cannot be completed in one year. It needs to be done every year, but the depth should generally be kept at 22 to 25 cm. After 2 to 3 years of efforts, the depth of the soil plowing layer can reach the standard of high-yield wheat fields. |
