Planting methods and precautions for peony potted plants

Peony is a common plant. Its aliases are Jiangli, Licao, Hongyao, etc. Peony is one of the six famous flowers in my country. Its color is very bright and its shape is charming. It is loved by many people. The development of peony in my country has a history of more than 4,000 years. It can also be used as medicine. Now it is planted in pots by many people and placed at home to decorate the environment.

How to plant peony in pot

1. Choice of flower pots

Peonies are first planted in the ground, so larger pots are needed for potted plants. Pots that are too small will affect the development of the roots of the peonies. And when transplanting peonies into pots, it is important to make sure to do so when the weather gradually cools down in autumn.

2. Soil

When planting peony in a pot, you need to use slightly loose, fertile, and slightly acidic soil. If the soil is too alkaline, it will cause the flowers and leaves to turn yellow, and even cause the peony to die. Therefore, the soil for peony potting can be made of garden soil, soil with rotten leaves, soil with river sand, and some fertilizer, in a ratio of 4:3:2:1.

3. Water and fertilizer management

Peonies are quite drought-resistant, so they don't need frequent watering. Just water them according to the principle of "water thoroughly when the soil is dry". If it is dry in spring, you can water them more often.

You can also water it several times before and after flowering, but be sure not to accumulate water. Peony needs to be top-dressed three times a year, in spring when it is new, when it grows leaves, and when it blooms. The fertilizers applied in the three times are also different. Nitrogen fertilizer can be applied in the early stage, and phosphorus fertilizer can be applied when it blooms.

Precautions for peony maintenance

When caring for peony flowers, you must pay attention to the amount of watering and fertilizing. Of course, you also need to pay attention to light. Long-term lack of light will cause yellow leaves, but it should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Then, just pay attention to pruning. This can not only promote growth, but also prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.
