Do tomatoes need watering every day?

Do you water tomatoes every day?

Tomatoes like water and require a lot of water, but they do not need to be watered every day. Generally, in spring and autumn, when the plants are growing vigorously, they can be watered every 2-3 days. In winter, it is necessary to determine whether watering is needed based on the growth status of the plants.

It is best to water tomatoes in the morning or when they are growing vigorously. The temperature at noon is too high, which is not conducive to the plants absorbing water. There is no need to water them on cloudy and rainy days. You can use well water and rainwater to water them at other times.

The correct way to water tomatoes

1. Watering newly planted tomatoes: Tomatoes will grow better in moist soil. If the tomatoes are newly planted, water them thoroughly in time to obtain high yields.

2. Watering repotted tomatoes: If the soil of newly repotted tomatoes is moist, there is no need to water them immediately. Instead, you need to loosen the soil in the pot regularly to enhance the air permeability of the soil.

3. Watering during the seedling stage: When tomato seeds germinate, the relative humidity of the soil should be around 80%. The plants need to be watered in time to promote germination.

4. Watering during the winter: Winter-warm tomatoes need to be watered once around October, and the soil should be hoeed in time to retain moisture. This way, no watering is required until fruit setting.

Overwatering of tomatoes

If potted tomatoes are watered too much, the plants need to be moved to a ventilated place in time. In addition, the light should be increased to promote the evaporation of water. If the tomatoes are planted in the ground, drainage needs to be done in time and more ventilation should be given.
