Coriander planting time in the north

Coriander in the north is suitable for sowing in late August, that is, after the beginning of summer heat. If sowing is too early, the high summer temperature and excessive precipitation will be detrimental to the growth of coriander seedlings. If sowing is too late, the plants will be too small, the roots will absorb less nutrients, and they will easily be frozen to death in winter.

How to grow coriander in the north

1. Choose a plot of land with loose, breathable soil, good drainage, and water and fertilizer retention as a seed field. Rake and level the soil to make ridges. Generally, the ridge is 1 meter wide. Before sowing, rub the coriander seeds vigorously to crack their shells to facilitate quick and uniform germination.

2. When sowing coriander, the seeds should be spread evenly. After the seedlings emerge from the soil, weeds and thinning should be carried out in time to prevent weeds and overcrowded seedlings from competing for nutrients. Generally, tillage, loosening the soil and weeding are required 2-3 times during the entire growing period to facilitate the growth of seedlings.

3. Coriander is not drought-tolerant. Water it every 5-7 days during the growing season to keep the soil moist. At the same time, ensure nutrients during the growing season. Fertilize with about 10 kg of urea per mu to ensure the healthy growth of coriander seedlings.

Key points for growing coriander in the north

From the time the coriander seedlings emerge from the soil to before freezing, they need to be watered about 4-5 times to ensure that the soil is always moist, but do not water excessively to avoid waterlogging. When the temperature is high and the sun is strong, shade the coriander to prevent leaf burns.
