When is the best time to repot Clivia?

1. When is the best time to repot Clivia

It is best to repot Clivia in spring and autumn every year, and the potting soil needs to be replaced 1-2 times a year. Otherwise, the fleshy roots of Clivia grow too fast and the nutrients in the soil can be consumed in half a year. If the pot and soil are not changed frequently, it will affect the growth of Clivia in the next year.

2. How to repot Clivia

1. Before repotting the Clivia, you need to control the water appropriately. When the soil is slightly dry, remove the Clivia from the original pot, remove the soil attached to the roots, cut off the rotten and shriveled roots, apply carbendazim powder on the cut, and place the Clivia in a cool and ventilated place to dry the roots.

2. Prepare loose and breathable soil. You can use leaf mold, pine needle soil, coarse sand and charcoal to mix it. Choose a breathable flowerpot of suitable size, which should be large enough to hold the roots of the Clivia. Keep the roots about 3 cm away from the pot wall. Place tiles and expanded clay at the bottom of the pot.

3. Fill 5-7cm of soil on top of the expanded clay. The soil moisture should be such that it can be held in the hand and will fall apart when touched. Then hold the roots of the Clivia with your hand, turn it upside down, fill the soil between the roots, hold the roots of the plant, and slowly place it in the center of the pot.

4. Finally, fill the gap between the roots and the flowerpot with soil, gently compact the soil, then fill the soil on the roots, covering the roots by 5-7cm, gently compact the soil, move the potted plants to a cool and ventilated place, wait for the soil to be almost dry and water it thoroughly, and you can maintain it normally after a week.
