Phalaenopsis repotting precautions

In order to ensure that Phalaenopsis has the nutrients it needs to grow, it is generally necessary to repot it once a year. The time should be chosen in late spring or early summer. At this time, it is not easy to damage the roots of Phalaenopsis when repotting, and the temperature and humidity are very suitable for the growth and development of Phalaenopsis after repotting.

After repotting, Phalaenopsis seedlings and mature plants should be kept in a ventilated and diffused light place for a period of time. Normal maintenance can be resumed after the plants adapt to the environment. When watering or sprinkling Phalaenopsis after repotting, the leaves should be prevented from being contaminated by moisture. Phalaenopsis grown outdoors in rainy seasons should be protected from rain to avoid rotting.

Phalaenopsis repotting method

1. Root pruning and drying

When repotting Phalaenopsis, you should also do root pruning at the same time. After removing the orchid from the pot, cut off the old, dead and rotten roots, and use diluted potassium permanganate to disinfect and sterilize them, and then dry the roots in the sun.

2. Watering

Do not water the Phalaenopsis immediately after repotting. Place it in diffuse light for a week. After the soil is completely dry, spray it with small amounts of water and water it slowly. Do not flood it with large amounts of water.

3. Soil for repotting

Phalaenopsis has high requirements for soil. It must be soft, breathable, rich in humus and acidic. The soil for the new pot should be prepared in advance and dried in the sun for 2-3 days before planting. Only in such a soil environment can Phalaenopsis grow vigorously.
